Manchester United could return for Barcelona defender Alejandro Balde during the winter transfer window, according to The Touchline.
The clubs were unable to reach an agreement over a transfer during the summer, while Balde himself was not keen to leave Barcelona at that stage. However, the possibility of a move could be revisited in January if the 22-year-old continues to receive limited playing time.
Balde has not played a single minute for Barcelona so far this season. That lack of involvement could influence his thinking as the winter window approaches, with a departure becoming an option if his situation does not improve.
The Spanish defender remains under contract with Barcelona until 2028. Transfermarkt currently values him at €50m.
Manchester United’s interest comes after their previous attempt to agree a deal with Barcelona failed during the summer window. No transfer was completed, and Balde stayed with the Catalan club after deciding that he did not want to leave.
The latest report indicates that his position may change if he remains out of the team. Playing time is expected to be an important factor in determining whether he would consider a move away from Barcelona in January.
At present, there is no agreement between the clubs and no indication that a transfer has been finalised. The potential move would therefore depend on several factors, including Balde’s involvement for Barcelona and whether Manchester United renew their efforts to reach a deal.

For now, Balde remains a Barcelona player. But with no appearances this season and Manchester United having previously been unable to secure his transfer, January could provide another opportunity for the situation to be reconsidered.
