Mamadou Sangare is on the verge of joining Brentford after Racing Club de Lens received a €48m offer from the Premier League club, according to reports in France.
The Mali international midfielder has left Lens’ pre-season training camp in Como, Italy, and is expected to hold final talks over personal terms and the details of his contract ahead of a proposed move to England.
French outlet RMC Sport reports that Brentford’s bid of €48m does not include potential bonuses but does contain a sell-on clause, giving Lens a percentage of any future transfer fee.
The deal is described as being close to completion, with only the last elements of the agreement still to be finalised. Sangare, 24, is understood to be in the final hours of his time with the Ligue 1 side.
Lens set for major profit
The transfer would represent a significant financial gain for Lens, who signed Sangare for an initial €5m, plus a further €3m in bonuses, to bring him to the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.
If the move goes through on the reported terms, Lens will secure a substantial profit on a player they have developed into a full Mali international, while also benefiting from any future resale through the agreed percentage.
Sangare is now expected to complete discussions with Brentford as the English club looks to strengthen its midfield options ahead of the 2026-2027 Premier League season.
Until the transfer is finalised and officially announced, Sangare remains under contract with Racing Club de Lens, but all indications from the club’s camp suggest his departure is imminent.
