Luiz Henrique expected to stay at Inter after Roma transfer collapses

Inter wing-back Luiz Henrique is expected to remain at the club after proposed move to Roma was called off, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano and transfer expert Matteo Moretto.

Romano and Moretto reported on 24 August, CEST, that the transfer was no longer set to go ahead. Their update means the deal, which had been under discussion between Inter and Roma, is now considered off the table.

Earlier reports had indicated that Luiz Henrique could join Roma in a deal worth €30 million. Roma, known as the Giallorossi, had been looking to complete the move through an initial loan agreement that would include a mandatory purchase option.

Inter, however, were insisting on a permanent transfer rather than a loan structure. That difference in preference formed the central issue in negotiations, with the two clubs understood to have been considering different ways of completing the proposed move.

In their latest video, Romano and Moretto said the transfer had now been called off and that Luiz Henrique is expected to stay at Inter. Their assessment represents the latest update on a deal that had previously been presented as a possible €30m move to Roma.

The reports do not indicate that an alternative agreement has been reached. Instead, the current expectation is that the Brazilian will remain with Inter, while Roma’s attempt to sign him does not proceed.

The change marks a reversal from the earlier reports, which had suggested that the clubs were exploring a loan arrangement leading to a compulsory purchase. Roma’s preferred formula and Inter’s demand for an outright sale left the proposed transfer dependent on whether the clubs could agree on the structure of the deal.

Romano and Moretto’s latest information therefore places the immediate focus on Luiz Henrique continuing at Inter. For now, the anticipated move to Roma will not take place, despite the earlier €30m valuation and the discussions over how the transfer could be arranged.

The update was delivered in a video report by the two Italian transfer specialists on 24 August, CEST. Their conclusion was clear: Luiz Henrique’s move to Roma has been abandoned, and the player is expected to remain an Inter footballer.
