Lorenzo Pellegrini reaches verbal agreement to remain Roma captain until 2027

Lorenzo Pellegrini is close to signing a new contract with Roma after reaching a verbal agreement with the Italian club, according to well-known transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

The proposed deal would keep the midfielder at Roma until June 2027. Although the agreement has not yet been formally completed, the understanding between the player and the club represents a significant step towards extending his time in the Italian capital.

Pellegrini has been a member of Roma’s senior team since 2017. During that period, he has made more than 300 appearances for the club, becoming one of the most established figures in the squad.

The midfielder has also served as Roma’s captain for a considerable period. His leadership role, combined with his long association with the club, has made him a central figure in the team’s recent history.

Romano’s report indicates that the two sides have already settled the main terms of the proposed agreement at a verbal level. The contract would run through June 2027, giving Pellegrini the prospect of continuing his career with the club for several more seasons.

Roma are due to begin the new Italian league season at home against Fiorentina. The match is scheduled for 24 August, with kick-off set for 21:45 Moscow time.

That fixture will provide the backdrop for the start of another campaign in which Pellegrini is expected to remain an important part of Roma’s squad and leadership group. His current status as captain, alongside his experience of more than 300 appearances, underlines the importance of the proposed renewal for the club.

For Pellegrini, the agreement would maintain his association with Roma, where he has played for the first team since 2017. For the club, it would help preserve the continuity provided by a long-serving midfielder who has been part of the senior side for many years.

The contract discussions are therefore focused on extending an established partnership rather than beginning a new one. A formal signing would complete the process described by Romano and confirm that Pellegrini’s time as a Roma player is set to continue beyond the existing arrangement.

The immediate priority for Roma remains the opening league match against Fiorentina on 24 August. However, the reported agreement over Pellegrini’s future gives the club an important piece of planning for the seasons ahead, with the proposed commitment lasting until June 2027.
