Liverpool have reached an agreement with Genk to sign 18-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Lukki Brugmans in a deal worth €35m, including bonuses.
Brugmans has signed a contract with the English club that will run until 2032, but he will not move to Liverpool immediately. Instead, the goalkeeper will spend the 2026-27 season back at Genk on loan before joining Liverpool next summer.
The agreement means Liverpool have committed to Brugmans’ development over the long term while allowing him to remain with the Belgian club for another season. The teenager will therefore continue his career at Genk during the 2026-27 campaign before beginning his time at Liverpool.
Brugmans has featured in all four of Genk’s matches so far this season. The 2m-tall goalkeeper has conceded eight goals across those appearances and has kept one clean sheet.
His move to Liverpool follows a deal structured with performance-related bonuses included in the overall fee. The total value of the transfer is €35m, while the length of his contract keeps him tied to the Premier League club until 2032.
At international level, Brugmans has represented Belgium throughout the country’s youth-team system. His progression through Belgium’s junior national sides has preceded his move to one of England’s leading clubs.
Although Brugmans will remain at Genk for the whole of next season, Liverpool have now secured his future. He is due to link up with his new club in the summer after completing the temporary return to the Belgian side.
The goalkeeper’s current campaign has included four appearances for Genk, with one match ending without him conceding. Across those games, he has allowed eight goals.
His agreement with Liverpool concludes the immediate transfer arrangements, with the loan period providing the next stage of his development before the move becomes permanent in practical terms next summer.
