Ilan Kebbal could be on the verge of a move to the English Premier League, with Frank Lampard playing a key role in a potential transfer to Coventry City.
According to reports from French media, the Paris FC midfielder has emerged as a priority target for Coventry, who are preparing for life in the top flight following their promotion. Lampard, a former Chelsea and England international, is said to have personally recommended the Algerian international as the club looks to strengthen its squad.
Kebbal, who is under contract with Paris FC until 2028, has attracted attention from a wide range of clubs across Europe and beyond. Among those linked are Olympique Lyonnais, AS Monaco, Stade Rennais, as well as English sides Brentford, Fulham, Everton and Crystal Palace. Interest has also reportedly come from Saudi Arabia.
Transfer Interest Grows Despite Difficult Season
Despite his growing reputation, Kebbal has endured a challenging period at Paris FC, where he has fallen out of favour under coach Antoine Kombouaré. Once regarded as one of the standout performers in the French league, his role has diminished significantly in recent months.
The French outlet Le Parisien reported: “Ilan Kabal is attracting considerable interest as the summer transfer window approaches. He is on Olympique Lyonnais’ shortlist, and the club inquired about him last year, but his high price tag is likely to dampen Lyon’s enthusiasm.”
The same report added: “Lyon is not the only club interested in the right winger. The Algerian international, who made his debut for the Algerian national team last year, is under contract with the Parisian club until 2028, and it seems he is also attracting interest from foreign clubs.”
With a reported valuation between €10m and €12m, Kebbal represents a relatively accessible option for clubs seeking attacking reinforcements. His versatility, being able to operate both as a right winger and attacking midfielder, has further increased his appeal.
Coventry City Lead the Race
Le Parisien also highlighted Coventry’s growing interest, stating: “It is said that Coventry City, managed by Frank Lampard, has entered the race to sign him. It remains to be seen whether Kabal will embark on a new experience or continue with Paris FC, where he has been playing since 2022 and enjoying a distinguished career.”
The report continued: “If he leaves, Paris FC will lose its top scorer, who has scored 8 goals in the French league this year.”
Coventry are believed to be in a strong position to complete the deal, with Lyon unlikely to match the financial demands involved.
Career at a Crossroads
Kebbal’s current situation marks a sharp contrast to earlier in the season, when he was considered one of the league’s breakthrough players and even nominated for the Marc-Vivien Foé award, given to the best African player in Ligue 1. However, his standing has declined significantly under Kombouaré, raising concerns about his long-term prospects.
His absence from the most recent Algeria squad, coached by Vladimir Petković, has further complicated matters. Injury prevented him from featuring in recent friendlies against Guatemala and Uruguay, denying him a chance to strengthen his international credentials.

With the World Cup on the horizon, Kebbal faces a pivotal decision regarding his future. A move to Coventry City could offer a fresh start and a platform to revive his career, while remaining at Paris FC may depend on a significant shift in his current circumstances.
