Klopp holds talks with Frankfurt prospect over Germany switch

Jurgen Klopp has personally spoken to Eintracht Frankfurt forward Younes Ebnoutalib as he attempts to persuade the Morocco-eligible youngster to represent Germany.

The German national team coach visited Eintracht Frankfurt, where photographs published by the club showed Klopp in conversation with the 22-year-old player. According to Sky Sport, the meeting included a lengthy discussion about Ebnoutalib’s international future.

Ebnoutalib is eligible to play for both Germany and Morocco. Klopp is understood to be highly impressed by the forward’s ability and is keen for him to choose the Mannschaft rather than represent the Atlas Lions.

The player was born in Frankfurt to a German mother and Moroccan father, giving him the right to play for Germany. He has, however, already been called up by Morocco at under-15 level.

That previous involvement with Morocco does not prevent Ebnoutalib from representing Germany, and the decision over his senior international future remains open. Klopp’s visit to Eintracht Frankfurt has now brought the issue into sharper focus.

The club’s social media channels shared images from the visit, including one showing the Germany manager speaking with Ebnoutalib. Sky Sport reported that the conversation between the pair did take place, rather than being only a brief exchange captured in the photographs.

Ebnoutalib has made an immediate impact at the start of the new Bundesliga season. He scored a hat-trick against Union Berlin in a match that ended 3-3, underlining the qualities that have attracted Klopp’s attention.

The performance has increased interest in the young forward as Germany and Morocco compete for his international allegiance. Klopp’s direct approach reflects Germany’s desire to secure Ebnoutalib before he makes a senior national-team commitment.

The visit was also referenced in a social-media post that described Klopp as having visited Eintracht Frankfurt and identified the discussion with the club’s “Shootingstar” Younes Ebnoutalib. Sky Sport’s report subsequently provided further detail about the meeting and the player’s eligibility.
