Kaizer Chiefs aim to extend winning run in Easter tie

Kaizer Chiefs will travel to the Eastern Cape over the Easter weekend for a crucial league encounter against Orbit College, as they look to build on their recent run of positive results.

The Betway Premiership fixture, scheduled for Easter Monday, will take place in Gqeberha after the Rustenburg-based Orbit College opted to relocate the match. The decision was made to accommodate an anticipated large turnout for the clash.

Chiefs head into the match in strong form following consecutive victories over Durban City and Magesi FC. With the final FIFA international break of the season now concluded, the Soweto side will be keen to maintain their momentum as the campaign enters a decisive phase.

Currently sitting fourth in the league standings, Amakhosi have collected 36 points from 20 matches. Their recent performances have strengthened their position in the upper half of the table, and another win could further solidify their push towards the top.

In contrast, Orbit College find themselves battling to avoid relegation. The newly-promoted side are second from bottom in the standings, having managed just 18 points from 22 games. With the season progressing, every point has become increasingly vital for their survival hopes.

The previous meeting between the two sides took place in November at FNB Stadium and proved to be a high-scoring affair. Chiefs emerged dominant on that occasion, securing a 4-1 victory in what was their first-ever encounter with Orbit College.

Monday’s fixture presents a different challenge, however, as Orbit College will be determined to capitalise on home support and improve their precarious position. The relocation to Gqeberha is expected to draw a significant crowd, adding to the atmosphere surrounding the match.

Tickets for the game have been made available through Webtickets, as well as at Pick ‘n Pay and Boxer outlets. Prices have been set at R60 for adults and R40 for children, making the event accessible to a wide range of supporters.

The match will kick off at 15:00 local time, in line with the adjusted “winter” scheduling for daytime fixtures.

As both teams prepare for the encounter, the stakes remain high on either end of the table. For Kaizer Chiefs, it is an opportunity to continue their resurgence and maintain pressure on the teams above them. For Orbit College, it represents a chance to secure valuable points in their fight to remain in the top flight.
