Juventus have completed the signing of Senegal midfielder Pape Matar Sarr from Tottenham Hotspur on a loan deal which could become a permanent move worth almost €30m.
The transfer was confirmed by Juventus on the final day of the Serie A transfer window, with Sarr joining the Italian club until the end of June 2027.
Juventus will pay €2.5m for the loan, while the deal also includes a further €300,000 in ancillary costs, the club said. They have the option to sign Sarr permanently for an additional €27.5m, with that fee payable over three financial years.
The 23-year-old becomes the seventh player to arrive at Juventus during the summer transfer window. Randal Kolo Muani, Kerim Alajbegovic, Jhon Lucumi, Guglielmo Vicario, Jeff Ekhator and Zeki Celik have already joined the club.
Newcastle United midfielder Nick Woltemade is also expected to move to Juventus on loan before the transfer deadline.
Sarr makes the move to Turin after five years on Tottenham Hotspur’s books. He joined the Premier League club from Metz as a teenager in the summer of 2021, although he remained with the French side for the 2021-22 season before moving on to England.
The Senegal international went on to make 107 Premier League appearances for Tottenham over the following four seasons.
Sarr has won 42 caps for Senegal at the age of 23 and was included in the national squad for both the 2022 and 2026 World Cups.
His arrival gives Juventus another midfield option as they strengthen their squad for the new campaign. The Italian club have chosen to structure the agreement initially as a loan, with the option to complete a permanent transfer at the end of the arrangement.
The deal was completed on deadline day, when clubs in Italy were making their final additions before the Serie A window closed. Juventus’ announcement confirmed both the initial loan cost and the terms of the potential permanent transfer.
If the option is taken up, the total value of the deal will be made up of the €2.5m loan fee, the €300,000 in ancillary costs and the €27.5m purchase price. The permanent fee would be paid across three financial years rather than as a single instalment.
Sarr joins Juventus having started his senior career at Metz before establishing himself in the Premier League with Tottenham. His international experience also includes appearances at two World Cups for Senegal, adding to his profile as Juventus continue to reshape their squad during the summer window.
