Juventus have reached a verbal agreement with Newcastle for the loan signing of Germany striker Nick Woltemade, according to football transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano’s latest update.
The 24-year-old will move to the Italian club on the final day of the transfer window, with Juventus agreeing to pay Newcastle a loan fee of £3.5m, approximately €4m.
The deal does not include either an option or an obligation for Juventus to make the transfer permanent. Woltemade is therefore set to join the Serie A club on a temporary basis, with no agreement in place at this stage for a future purchase.
Woltemade joined Newcastle from Stuttgart last summer in a transfer worth €75m. Since moving to the Premier League side, the German forward has made 53 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists.
His move to Juventus will bring a new chapter in the striker’s career after one season with Newcastle. The agreement between the two clubs was reached verbally, with the transfer being completed as the transfer window closes.
Juventus have secured Woltemade’s services for the remainder of the loan period while retaining the existing arrangement that does not require them to buy him at the end of the deal. Newcastle will receive £3.5m for allowing the forward to leave temporarily.
The forward’s record at Newcastle stands at 11 goals and six assists in 53 matches. He now leaves the English club on loan after arriving from Stuttgart for a significant fee last summer.
