Jean Onana: Cameroon midfielder at Besiktas linked with Ludogorets move

Cameroon midfielder Jean Onana of Besiktas is being linked with a summer move to Bulgarian champions Ludogorets in the efbet Liga. The 26-year-old defensive midfielder is under contract in Istanbul until June 2027, so any deal is expected to involve a fee, with his current market valuation standing at around €1m.

Onana rejoined Besiktas this summer after a loan spell at Genoa, where he featured in Serie A during the 2025-26 season. He has found minutes harder to come by in the Turkish Super Lig, making only a handful of league appearances for Besiktas so far, and Ludogorets are understood to see an opportunity to strengthen their midfield with a player who has experience across several European competitions.

The Yaounde-born midfielder first arrived at Besiktas in July 2023 from Lens in a €4.04m deal after establishing himself in Ligue 1, where he made 58 appearances with four goals and two assists. His career has taken him through Portugal’s youth system with Leixoes, top-flight football in France and Belgium, and more recently Turkey and Italy, including outings in European competition qualifiers.

Onana was part of the Besiktas squad that lifted the Turkish Super Cup in the 2024-25 season, adding silverware to a CV that already includes regular top-flight experience in multiple leagues. For now he remains a Besiktas player, with two years left on his deal and the Turkish club in a strong position to negotiate any potential transfer.
