Jack Grealish has rejoined Everton on loan from Manchester City for the remainder of the 2026/27 season, after recovering from the foot injury that ended his first spell with the Toffees.
The 30-year-old forward became a popular figure on Merseyside last season after an impressive initial loan campaign. He made 20 Premier League appearances, scoring twice and providing six assists, before suffering the injury in February.
Grealish was named Premier League Player of the Month for August and was one of Everton’s most influential players during the opening stages of the campaign. He also contributed four assists in his first two league matches for the club, in wins against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brighton & Hove Albion.
His return was confirmed after he completed rehabilitation with Everton’s medical team and was declared fully fit. He becomes the sixth addition to David Moyes’ Men’s squad during the summer transfer window.
Everton have also signed Hayden Hackney, Tyrique George, Christian Nørgaard and Brennan Johnson, while Merlin Rohl’s loan obligation has been activated.
Grealish said he was delighted to be back at the club and praised the welcome he had received from the manager, his team-mates and supporters.
“It feels so good. I’m so happy. I think I’m at my best at everything in life, not just football, when I feel loved. That’s what the manager has given me, what my teammates have given me and especially what the fans have given me.
“Every time I see an Everton fan, it’s just pure love and the way they’ve welcomed me since that first game against Leeds, I’ll never forget that. It means a lot to me and hopefully I’ve made a few Everton fans happy.
“I had a perfect time here for the first six months, then I stayed around after I got injured. I’ve been watching all the Everton games in pre-season and since the season started.
“Now I feel ready to go. I’m ready to start training tomorrow and prepare for the games.”
Among Grealish’s standout moments last season were a stoppage-time winner against Crystal Palace at Hill Dickinson Stadium in October and a late goal that secured victory away to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in December.
He also spoke warmly about his relationship with Moyes, who was a significant factor in his decision to return to Everton.
“I love him, the manager. I think he’s such a great guy. He was a big reason why I wanted to come back here as well.
“I’ve had certain managers in the past where I feel I’ve played my best football under them – and he falls into that category, for sure.
“I had such a good connection with him – and the players here. I’m ready to play wherever the manager wants me and help as much as I can.”
Grealish has made 211 Premier League appearances and won 39 caps for England. He moved from Aston Villa to Manchester City in 2021 and was part of Pep Guardiola’s successful team between 2021 and 2025.
During that period, Manchester City won three Premier League titles, two FA Cups, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
Grealish believes Everton’s summer recruitment has strengthened the squad.
“The Club has brought in some really good players over the summer, obviously Hayden [Hackney] from Middlesbrough, Christian Nørgaard and Brennan Johnson – there’s a lot of players like this that are proven in the Premier League. I look at our team now and I am excited by it. I am looking forward to see what we can all do together.”
He could make his second Everton debut against Manchester United at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday.
“I can’t wait for this weekend. I have been doing everything I can in the past couple of months to get back to this moment.
“I will be going to sleep tonight with a smile on my face, ready for training tomorrow. I can’t wait to be back at Hill Dickinson on Sunday.”
