Hull City have completed the signing of forward Mohamed-Ali Cho from Ligue 1 club Nice in a deal worth a reported £15m, including add-ons.
The 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Tigers and becomes the club’s 12th arrival of the summer transfer window.
Cho joins Hull after featuring 37 times for Nice last season, scoring five goals and registering four assists. The French side endured a difficult campaign and narrowly avoided relegation to Ligue 2.
His arrival is part of Hull’s continued efforts to strengthen their squad as they target Premier League survival by the end of the season.
Cho returns to the UK after spending several years in France, where he played European football with Nice. He said the opportunity to compete in the Premier League was a major factor in his decision to move to East Yorkshire.
Speaking to Hull City’s website, Cho said: “I’m really excited. I’m very happy to be here and looking forward to helping the team as soon as possible.
“Coming back to the UK is a really positive point, and then the experience of playing in the Premier League.
“I’m excited to experience this league – it’s the best league in the world. It’s going to be a really good challenge.
“It was a good experience in France. I spent a good few years at Nice, played in Europe and really enjoyed it. I’m really happy to be back in the UK now and close to my family.
“My friend Nobel Mendy scored (against Manchester United) and I was really happy for him and the club. I know Darko (Gyabi) from the England youth team and Lucas (Gourna) from back in Paris.
“I’m an attacker and can play all three (forward) positions. My main qualities are dribbling, speed, taking risks and taking on players.
“I can’t wait to get to know the fans, play in front of them and hopefully get good results, help the team and score goals.”
Cho described his ability to operate across the front three as one of his key strengths. He also highlighted his pace, dribbling and willingness to take on defenders as important parts of his game.
The forward said he was particularly pleased to return to the UK and be closer to his family, while also welcoming the chance to test himself in what he called “the best league in the world”.
He also referred to his connections with Hull’s squad, mentioning Nobel Mendy’s goal against Manchester United, along with his previous relationships with Darko Gyabi from the England youth teams and Lucas Gourna from their time in Paris.
Hull hope Cho’s versatility and attacking qualities will help them achieve their objective of remaining in the Premier League this season.
