Ivory Coast head coach Hervé Renard has set his sights on winning major trophies after returning to lead the Elephants for a second spell.
The Ivorian Football Federation appointed the experienced French tactician following the departure of Emerse Fae, with Renard officially unveiled on Thursday as the national team begins preparations for upcoming qualifiers and major tournaments.

Renard said his decision to return to African football had been made several months ago and that the opportunity to coach Ivory Coast again was one he could not turn down.
“I had decided several months ago to return to Africa. Returning to manage Ivory Coast is an immense honour,” Renard said.
The Frenchman is one of the most successful coaches in Africa Cup of Nations history. He guided Zambia to the AFCON title in 2012 before leading Ivory Coast to continental glory three years later.
Renard believes his new assignment will require significant work, particularly with Ivory Coast preparing for the next two editions of the Africa Cup of Nations.
“We have major objectives ahead of us and a huge amount of work to do ahead of the next two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. The expectations of Ivorian supporters are immense, as always.”
The former Zambia, Morocco and Saudi Arabia coach acknowledged the pressure that comes with leading the Elephants but insisted that the expectations should serve as motivation.
“Ivory Coast is a nation built to win trophies. We must set high standards for ourselves every day in order to achieve the best possible results.”
Renard’s return represents an ambitious move by the Ivorian FA as it seeks to maintain the country’s position among Africa’s elite.
His previous success on the continent, combined with his reputation for motivating players and building competitive tournament teams, will be central to the federation’s hopes of challenging for more silverware.
