German-born forward of Ghanaian descent Ragnar Ache was among the scorers as FC Köln played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Borussia Mönchengladbach in their Bundesliga round 27 fixture on Saturday.
The match, held at the RheinEnergie Stadion, delivered a fast-paced and dramatic contest, with both sides sharing the points after a six-goal encounter that showcased attacking intent from the outset.
The home side made a rapid start, with Said El Mala opening the scoring in just the fourth minute. Ache quickly added to Köln’s advantage three minutes later, finding the net in the seventh minute to cap an early spell of dominance.
However, the visitors responded almost immediately. Jens Castrop pulled one back just a minute after El Mala’s opener, ensuring the game remained finely balanced in its opening stages. The early exchanges saw three goals scored within the first ten minutes, setting the tone for a lively contest.
Borussia Mönchengladbach continued to press and eventually levelled proceedings later in the match. Castrop struck again in the 60th minute to complete his brace, while Philipp Sander also added his name to the scoresheet, contributing to the visitors’ attacking efforts in a game that remained unpredictable throughout.
Despite surrendering their early lead, Köln fought back to secure a point. Eric Martel scored late in the 84th minute to ensure the hosts avoided defeat and earned a share of the spoils in front of their home supporters.
Ache’s goal in this match took his tally to six goals and three assists from 26 appearances in the current campaign.
For Köln, attention now turns to their next fixture following the international break. They are scheduled to travel to face Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, April 5.
