Gambian forward Ebrima Singhateh has completed a move to Czech top-flight side AC Sparta Prague, signing a four-year contract from FK Jablonec in what represents a major step forward in his young career.
The 22-year-old, regarded as one of the most promising attacking talents emerging from The Gambia, joins Sparta Prague after an impressive spell in Czech football, where his pace, dribbling ability and attacking threat have made him a standout performer.
Sparta Prague confirmed the transfer on their official Instagram account, announcing Singhateh as their first signing of the summer transfer window.
Singhateh’s agent, Modou Lamin Beyai, described the move as the result of long-term development and persistence, highlighting the forward’s steady rise through multiple clubs and leagues.
“Singhateh’s transfer to Sparta Prague is the reward for years of hard work, humility, and patience. He is a very loyal, humble, and hardworking young man who has earned every step of his journey.
After his time at Real Banjul, he moved to Estonia with Paide in 2022 before signing with Slavia Prague the same year.”
Born on 10 September 2003 in Brikama, Singhateh began his football journey at Real de Banjul, where he developed in the Gambian domestic league before earning a move to Europe at the age of 18.
His first stop on the continent was with Estonian side Paide, where he gained valuable experience and lifted the Estonian Cup. However, his stay in Estonia was brief, as he quickly attracted attention from elsewhere in Europe.
In August 2022, he moved to the Czech Republic, joining Slavia Prague. During his time there, he featured regularly for the club’s second team while continuing his development in a highly competitive environment.
His progress also earned him recognition at international level, representing Gambia at both the FIFA U-20 World Cup and the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
At the continental tournament, he played a key role in helping his country reach the final, where they were defeated by Senegal.
At club level, Singhateh’s breakout performances came during the 2023/24 season while on loan at Vlašim in the Czech second division, where he recorded eight goals and three assists in the autumn half of the campaign.
Those displays led to further moves within Czech football, including a stint at Sigma Olomouc, before a permanent switch to Karviná following his departure from Slavia Prague.
Now at Sparta Prague, Singhateh takes another significant step in his career as he joins one of the Czech Republic’s most successful clubs, with expectations growing around his continued development.
