Fulham have completed the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson, with the Sweden international joining the London club on loan until the end of the current season.
The 22-year-old will continue his career in the Premier League after making the move from the German Bundesliga. Fulham confirmed the arrival through the club’s official media channels, adding Larsson to their squad for the remainder of the campaign.
Larsson arrives at Craven Cottage after featuring regularly for Eintracht Frankfurt during the previous Bundesliga season. He made 25 league appearances for the German side, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
The midfielder’s temporary switch gives Fulham an additional option in the centre of the pitch as they seek to improve their position in the early stages of the English top flight. After two rounds of Premier League fixtures, Fulham have yet to collect a point and are 16th in the table.
Larsson has spent the recent part of his career with Eintracht Frankfurt, where his performances in Germany established him as part of the club’s first-team setup. His record from the last campaign included four direct contributions in the Bundesliga, with two goals and two assists across his 25 league matches.
Fulham will have Larsson available on a loan basis through to the conclusion of the current season. The agreement means the Swedish midfielder will spend the campaign in England while remaining contracted to Eintracht Frankfurt.
The move takes Larsson into a new domestic competition and places him in the Premier League after his previous experience in the Bundesliga. For Fulham, it represents a fresh midfield addition at a point when the club are still waiting for their first league points of the season.
The London side currently occupy 16th place after two matches. Their position comes at the beginning of the campaign, but the club will be looking to change that record as the season progresses with Larsson now part of the squad.
Larsson’s contribution for Eintracht Frankfurt last season was recorded across 25 Bundesliga appearances, during which he found the net twice and created two goals for team-mates. Those figures form the basis of his recent senior club record as he begins his loan spell with Fulham.
The Swedish footballer will now represent the Cottagers until the season ends. His arrival links Fulham with a player who has been competing in Germany’s top division and gives Larsson the opportunity to continue his development in the Premier League.
