From crisis to change: Nahhas named Al Masry boss

Al Masry SC have confirmed the appointment of Emad El Nahhas as their new technical director, marking a swift managerial change following a difficult run of results that led to the departure of Nabil El Kouki.

The Port Said-based club announced the decision through its official channels, presenting Nahhas as the figure tasked with stabilising the team after recent setbacks. The move comes shortly after El Kouki’s exit, which followed both a continental disappointment and a heavy domestic defeat.

Al Masry’s elimination from the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup proved to be a turning point in the club’s season. That disappointment was compounded by a 4-1 loss to Zamalek SC in a Premier League fixture last Sunday, a result that intensified pressure on the coaching staff.

The club’s official statement struck an optimistic tone as it unveiled Nahhas, accompanied by a welcoming message shared on social media:
“The Green Eagles with a new leadership, welcome Captain Emad El Nahhas as the technical director of Al Masry Club.”

A Timely Change in Leadership

Nahhas arrives at a critical juncture for Al Masry, who are seeking to regroup after a sequence of disappointing performances. The loss to Zamalek not only exposed defensive vulnerabilities but also highlighted the urgency for a reset in both strategy and morale.

El Kouki’s tenure had initially shown promise, but the combination of continental elimination and domestic struggles ultimately brought his spell to an abrupt end. The club hierarchy moved quickly to secure a replacement, signalling their intent to salvage the remainder of the campaign.

Proven Track Record Offers Hope

Nahhas brings with him a record that may inspire confidence among supporters. He previously guided Al Ahly SC during a pivotal period, overseeing six matches and winning all of them. That short but effective spell contributed significantly to the club securing the league title.

His experience also extends beyond Egypt. Nahhas had a stint with Al Zawraa SC, where he worked between October 2025 and February 2026. While relatively brief, the role added an international dimension to his managerial résumé.

Rebuilding After Setbacks

Al Masry’s immediate challenge will be to regain consistency in the league while rebuilding confidence within the squad. The scale of the defeat to Zamalek underlined the gap the team must close if they are to compete effectively at the highest level.

Nahhas is expected to focus on tightening defensive organisation and restoring attacking efficiency, areas that faltered in recent fixtures. With the season still ongoing, there remains an opportunity to turn performances around, but the margin for error is narrowing.

A Fresh Start for the Green Eagles

The appointment signals a new chapter for Al Masry, who will be hoping that a change in leadership can reignite their campaign. Supporters will be looking for immediate signs of improvement as Nahhas takes charge of his first matches.

While expectations will be high, the club’s decision reflects a broader strategy to rebuild momentum and restore competitiveness after a period of instability.

Pressure and Opportunity Collide

Emad El Nahhas steps into the role with both expectation and opportunity. With a proven ability to deliver results under pressure, his appointment represents a calculated gamble by Al Masry’s leadership. Whether he can replicate past success and guide the Green Eagles back on track will likely define the trajectory of their season.
