Akos Buzsaky, the former FC Porto and Queens Park Rangers midfielder, has been missing in Hungary for more than a week and is no longer in contact with his family.
The 44-year-old has not responded to his parents, his wife or their two children. A search for Buzsaky began on 18 August, according to The Sun.
No further details about the circumstances of his disappearance have been given. The case concerns a former professional footballer who ended his playing career in 2015 and had since moved into business.
Buzsaky began his career with Hungarian club MTK towards the end of the 20th century. In 2002, he moved to FC Porto, where Jose Mourinho had just arrived.
However, Buzsaky was unable to establish himself in Porto’s first team. The midfielder remained with the Portuguese club before moving to Queens Park Rangers in 2008.
He played for QPR until 2012 and also featured in the English Premier League during that period. His time in England formed the most substantial part of the latter stages of his playing career.
Buzsaky retired from football in 2015 at the age of 33, bringing an early end to a career that had taken him from Hungary to Portugal and England. After retiring, he turned his attention to business.
His disappearance has now prompted a search in Hungary, with relatives unable to contact him for more than seven days. The report names neither the location from which he disappeared nor any further information about the search.
