Folarin Balogun’s proposed move from AS Monaco to Everton is in serious doubt after the United States international reportedly failed his medical with the Premier League club.
According to RMC Sport, Everton’s medical team has raised concerns about the striker’s fitness, putting the proposed €50 million transfer at risk on Deadline Day.
Everton and Monaco had reached an agreement for the 25-year-old forward, but the deal now faces the possibility of collapsing unless the two clubs can resolve the concerns before the transfer window closes.
Everton raise doubts over Balogun’s fitness
Fabrizio Romano reports that Everton’s medical staff do not consider Balogun to be 100 per cent fit at present.
However, Monaco and the player’s representatives reportedly insist that the striker is fit and ready to play, creating a disagreement over his physical condition.
With the transfer deadline approaching, there is limited time for both sides to find a solution.
Everton must now decide whether to proceed with the deal despite the concerns, renegotiate the terms or abandon the transfer altogether.
Balogun could remain at Monaco
Unless there is a late breakthrough, Balogun is increasingly expected to remain at Monaco rather than complete a move to Everton.
The striker joined Monaco three years ago after coming through Arsenal’s academy and is under contract with the Ligue 1 club until 2028.
He has made 91 appearances for Monaco, scoring 31 goals during his time in the Principality.
A collapse of the proposed Everton transfer would leave Balogun facing an uncertain future at Monaco, while Everton would have to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements.
For now, the player’s medical situation remains the key issue, with both clubs facing a race against time to determine whether the €50 million deal can still be completed before the transfer deadline.
