Flic receives boost as Barcelona complete registration of four summer signings

Barcelona have received a significant boost before their meeting with Elche, with Karim Adeyemi, Anthony Gordon, Rodri and Joao Cancelo all cleared to be registered for the club.

The four players have now secured the necessary approval to feature for Barcelona, giving manager Hansi Flick the option of selecting them for Sunday’s match if he believes they are ready to play.

However, Bissou will not be included in Barcelona’s squad because administrative procedures relating to his registration have not yet been completed.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Joao Cancelo was the final one of the four new arrivals to receive clearance. His registration appeared on LaLiga’s official website at 10:30 on Saturday morning, while he was taking part in a training session with the team.

Barcelona began the registration process for their new signings on Friday. Rodri was the first player to receive approval from the relevant authorities, although he continued to follow an individual training programme rather than taking part fully with the group.

Karim Adeyemi was then added to LaLiga’s records, followed by Anthony Gordon. Cancelo’s registration was confirmed the following morning, completing the process for all four players.

Their eligibility means Flick can now decide whether any of them should be involved against Elche. The German manager will assess their condition and readiness before determining whether to introduce them to the squad or use them during the game.

Rodri, the Madrid midfielder, continued to train separately on Saturday, doing so for a second consecutive day. Despite receiving the necessary approval to be registered, his individual work may influence whether he is considered for selection.

Bissou’s situation remains unresolved. Although he will hold a registration card with Barcelona Atletic, he will not be permitted to play against Elche while the remaining bureaucratic steps are being processed.

The player trained with Barcelona’s reserve side on Saturday as he waits for the outstanding formalities to be completed. Once the paperwork is finalised, he will be able to move forward with his registration and become available for selection.

The developments provide Flick with greater flexibility ahead of the Elche fixture, but the coach must still decide how quickly to use the newly registered players. Four of Barcelona’s summer arrivals are now officially eligible, while Bissou remains unavailable because of the continuing administrative delay.
