Fiston Mayele has ended his three-year spell at Pyramids FC and will continue his career in Libya with Al Ahli Tripoli.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo international confirmed his departure in an emotional video shared on his Facebook page. In the message, the striker thanked Pyramids FC’s supporters, his team-mates and everyone at the club for a period filled with memorable moments.
Mayele joined Pyramids FC determined to establish himself at the highest level of African football. He quickly became an important figure in the Egyptian club’s history and finished his three seasons as its all-time leading goalscorer.
His time in Egypt also brought four trophies, as Pyramids FC enjoyed one of the most successful periods in its history. Mayele’s individual performances were recognised in 2025 when he was named African Interclub Player of the Year.
That award further strengthened his reputation as one of the continent’s most dangerous forwards. His goalscoring record, physical presence and ability to influence matches made him a key part of Pyramids FC’s success.
Mayele had been heavily linked with a move to a Saudi Arabian club, as reported exclusively by Africafoot, but ultimately chose a different destination. The 31-year-old, who is already under contract with Al Ahli Tripoli, will now take on a new challenge in Libya.
His move represents the latest stage of an international career that has included representing the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the World Cup. He joins an Al Ahli Tripoli side with ambitious objectives in a Libyan championship seeking to take another step forward.
At 31, Mayele brings substantial experience of African and international football to his new club. His finishing, ability to occupy opposing defences and leadership qualities are expected to be valuable assets for Al Ahli Tripoli.
