Fethallah Tahar: Algerian midfielder joins Olympique Akbou on free transfer from CS Constantine

Algerian attacking midfielder Fethallah Tahar has joined Olympique Akbou on a free transfer from CS Constantine, signing a contract with the Ligue 1 side until 30 June 2028.

The 32-year-old, who is comfortable on both feet, arrives with extensive experience in the Algerian top flight, having made more than 200 Ligue 1 appearances across his career. His move keeps him in the division after two seasons with Constantine, whom he joined from MC Alger in 2024, also as a free agent.

Tahar’s switch is the latest step in a career spent entirely in Algerian football, progressing from ASM Oran’s youth set-up into the senior side before spells at RC Relizane and ASO Chlef. His performances at Chlef paved the way for a move to MC Alger in 2021, where he went on to win the Algerian championship in the 2023-24 season.

Across league and domestic cup competitions, Tahar has contributed goals and assists consistently, recording 11 goals and 26 assists in 204 Ligue 1 appearances and adding further contributions in the Algerian Cup. He also brings experience of continental competition following outings in both the CAF Confederation Cup and domestic league cup.

With a current market value of €325,000, Tahar adds proven creativity and nous in the attacking midfield role as Olympique Akbou prepare for the new campaign. The deal sees him commit his peak years to the club, with his contract in Akbou running through to the summer of 2028.
