Dutch-Ghanaian winger Ernest Poku of Bayer Leverkusen is being linked with a move to Premier League side Nottingham Forest as the Bundesliga club consider interest in the 22-year-old.
Forest are exploring a deal for the right-sided attacker, who is currently valued at around €25m and under contract at Leverkusen until 30 June 2030. The length of that agreement puts the German club in a strong negotiating position, with any departure expected to require a significant fee.
Poku joined Leverkusen from AZ Alkmaar in August 2025 for €10m and has since broken into the first team, making 29 Bundesliga appearances and contributing five goals and five assists. His exposure in European competition with Leverkusen, including outings in both the Champions League and Europa League, has added to his growing reputation abroad.
Born in Hamburg and eligible for both the Netherlands and Ghana, Poku came through the AZ academy and was part of the club’s successful youth crop, winning the UEFA Youth League in 2022-23. He later stepped up to the Eredivisie with AZ before earning his move to Germany.
Forest’s interest reflects a push to add a natural right winger with top-flight and European experience, though there is no indication yet that an agreement is close. For now, Poku remains a Leverkusen player preparing for the new season under a long-term contract that runs for another four years.
