Al Ahli are preparing to part ways with French midfielder Enzo Millot after just a single season, as the Saudi Pro League side press ahead with a major overhaul of their foreign contingent ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
The Jeddah club have already confirmed the departures of two of their headline overseas stars – Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie and Algeria winger Riyad Mahrez – following three seasons at the club. Millot is now poised to become the third big-name foreign player to leave.
According to Saudi newspaper Arriyadiyah, Al Ahli’s hierarchy have decided to sacrifice Millot, with sporting director Rui Pedro actively seeking either a permanent transfer or a loan move for the 22-year-old.
Strong start fades for Millot
Millot joined Al Ahli from German side Stuttgart during last summer’s transfer window and initially made a strong impression in the Saudi Pro League.
The Frenchman began the season in outstanding form and quickly established himself in the starting line-up. However, his performances dipped notably in the latter stages of the campaign, prompting the club to reassess his role in their long-term plans.
Despite the expected exit, Millot’s numbers remain respectable. He featured in 40 matches across all competitions for Al Ahli last season, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists – a solid return for a midfielder in his first year in Saudi Arabia.
Replacement search already under way
Arriyadiyah reports that Al Ahli have already started the process of identifying a new midfielder to replace Millot, with the club ready to move quickly if a suitable offer arrives for the Frenchman in the coming days.
The plan is to bring in a player who can strengthen the centre of the pitch and fit into the tactical structure being developed by the club’s technical staff ahead of the new campaign.
The potential departure of Millot is part of a broader reshaping of the squad as Al Ahli look to refresh their foreign quota and maintain competitiveness at the top end of the Saudi Pro League.
New attacking midfield options signed
Al Ahli have already moved to bolster their midfield and attacking options this summer.
The club have secured the signatures of Armenia international Eduard Spertsyan and Portugal winger Francisco Trincao – both players who can operate in advanced midfield roles as well as out wide.
Their arrivals give Al Ahli additional creativity and attacking impetus, and may have further reduced Millot’s prospects of remaining a central figure in the team.
By pushing out three established foreign stars and investing in younger attacking talents, Al Ahli appear to be shifting towards a new sporting strategy aimed at building a refreshed core ahead of the 2026-27 season.
With Kessie and Mahrez already confirmed as departures, the focus now turns to Millot’s future – and how quickly Al Ahli can finalise his exit and complete the next phase of their midfield rebuild.
