Enzo has described joining Manchester City as the fulfilment of a lifelong ambition after completing his Deadline Day move from Chelsea.
The Argentina international has signed a contract running until the summer of 2031, with the 25-year-old midfielder now preparing to begin life at the Etihad Stadium.
Speaking in his first interview since becoming a Manchester City player, Enzo said the opportunity to join one of football’s biggest clubs was a significant moment for both him and his family.
“I’m really happy to be here. I’ve always dreamed of playing for a big club like Manchester City.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity. Taking this step at 25 is a very exciting time for me and my family, because it’s a career I’ve always dreamed of.
“Being here and enjoying my first few hours at the club, I’m really happy. I can already tell how big this is, and we will enjoy it together and win many things.”
Enzo also said the continued success overseen by manager Enzo Maresca at Manchester City helped persuade him to accept the move immediately.
He arrives at a club that has won 20 trophies during the past decade and is determined to contribute to its pursuit of further honours. The midfielder said Manchester City’s history created an expectation that every competition must be approached with the aim of winning.
“Manchester City must win every competition they participate in. Every competition we play in, we have to compete and try to win, because that’s what the history of this club demands.
“To be honest, from the first day they believed in me and called me to tell me they wanted me to join, I didn’t hesitate for a second.
“This is a club that has won a lot of honours in recent years. It is writing football history, and for me, this is a huge challenge.
“Being able to come here, help the club, and continue to win honours with everyonethat was my goal from the moment they called me: to join this club, knowing that we will win many trophies together.”
The transfer forms part of a major overhaul of the Manchester City squad. Enzo has joined a group of summer arrivals that includes Elliot Anderson, Savinho and Mateo Kovacic, among others, while several players have also departed.
Although he has not yet trained with his new team-mates, Enzo said he had watched Manchester City in action on television and was impressed by the quality of the revamped squad.
“I’ve seen a lot of new signings come into the team, and some players have left too.
“The squad we have now, the quality we have, you can see it at a glance.
“I haven’t had the chance to train yet, but I’ve watched their games on TV.
“To be honest, the team Manchester City has built this year is excellent, and I’m really happy to see them moving in this direction.”
