Egypt national under-17 football team secured a 2–1 victory over Oman national under-17 football team in an international friendly match, although the encounter was overshadowed by a serious medical emergency involving Omani player Mohammed Ghanem.
The incident occurred following a heavy collision during the game, prompting immediate concern from players and officials on the pitch.
According to reports, the player experienced severe complications, including the danger of airway obstruction and convulsive symptoms, leading to urgent intervention from the medical teams of both nations.
The Egyptian medical staff, led by Dr. Hajjaj Al-Antabli, reacted quickly alongside their Omani counterparts to stabilise the player and administer emergency first aid before he was transported from the stadium.
Mohammed Ghanem was later taken by ambulance to Zayed Specialised Hospital, where he underwent scans and further medical examinations.
Dr. Al-Antabli reportedly accompanied the player to the hospital to ensure all emergency procedures were properly followed.
Subsequent medical tests confirmed that the Omani youngster was in stable condition and had not suffered any long-term complications, bringing relief to both teams after the frightening incident.
The Egyptian medical delegation, which also included Dr. Salah Ashour and physiotherapist Mohamed Amer, received praise for their professionalism, rapid response and coordination with the Omani medical staff.
The situation ultimately ended positively, with the player making a full recovery after what had initially appeared to be a potentially serious emergency.
