The calculation for Rodri is based on an €80m transfer fee and wages of €30m per season over four seasons. On that basis, the total cost would reach €200m.
Rodri, who is 30, would represent an estimated cost of about €50m per season when the transfer fee is included in the calculation and spread across the four-year term.
The figures presented by Ruiz are totals rather than transfer fees alone. They combine the initial payment for each player with the pre-tax salary commitments set out in the respective contract estimates.
Diomande’s proposed transfer fee is higher than Rodri’s by €45m, but the younger player’s reported salary would be considerably lower. Rodri’s annual wage estimate is more than three times Diomande’s €9m figure.
