Montpellier have signed Algeria-France centre-forward Daryll Benlahlou on loan from Olympique Lyonnais B. The 20-year-old has joined the Ligue 2 side for the 2026-27 season, with the deal running until 30 June 2027.
Benlahlou, who was born in Givors and plays primarily through the middle in attack, arrives from Lyon’s reserve side, which competes in the French National 2. The move offers the right-footed striker a first opportunity in a fully professional first-team environment after progressing through Lyon’s age-group structure.
Having developed in Lyon’s youth system since 2015, Benlahlou moved up from the club’s U17s to the U19s and then to Lyon B in 2025. Across youth and reserve competitions, he has built a consistent scoring record, including double figures in both the National U19 league and National 2, where he combined goals and assists over regular minutes.
Montpellier, now operating in Ligue 2, add a forward who has already featured in domestic youth leagues, the Coupe Gambardella and the Premier League International Cup at under-21 level. His track record of converting chances at youth and reserve level provides an additional attacking option as the club reshape their squad for the new campaign.
Benlahlou’s loan will expire at the end of June 2027, when he is scheduled to return to Lyon B.
