Reports in Germany say Cristiano Ronaldo and his fiancee Georgina Rodriguez could marry in Madeira this weekend, with Funchal Cathedral reportedly booked for a ceremony expected to reflect the couple’s famously luxurious lifestyle.
Ronaldo, 41, and Rodriguez, 32, are said to be preparing to exchange vows on the Portuguese island, where the footballer was born. German newspaper Bild reports that the cathedral in Funchal has been reserved in its entirety for the event.
The reports have not been officially confirmed. If the wedding goes ahead, it would mark the latest chapter in a relationship that began in 2016, when Ronaldo and Rodriguez met in Madrid.
At the time, Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid and captaining Portugal, while Rodriguez worked at a Gucci store in the Spanish capital. Their relationship developed quickly, and they welcomed their daughter Alana Martina at the end of 2017. The family has since grown to include several children.
The couple’s relationship has frequently been linked with an extravagant lifestyle, much of which Rodriguez shares with her followers on Instagram. Their cars, watches, jewellery and properties have all attracted considerable attention.
In one photograph published in 2025, Ronaldo and Rodriguez were pictured inside a Bugatti Centodieci. The Daily Mail estimated the value of the car at about 11.6m euros.
Both were also wearing Patek Philippe watches. Ronaldo’s diamond-encrusted watch was estimated to be worth approximately 605,000 euros, while Rodriguez’s was valued at around 380,000 euros.
The engagement ring worn by Rodriguez added substantially to the total. Its estimated value is about 5.2m euros, meaning the car and the jewellery visible in that single photograph were worth more than 17.8m euros combined.
According to The Sun, Ronaldo made his proposal an especially elaborate occasion. Alongside the multi-million-euro engagement ring, he reportedly gave Rodriguez a collection of luxury presents with a combined value of about 313,000 euros.
Those gifts included a white Porsche Taycan, estimated to cost about 90,000 euros, and a watch from Swiss manufacturer Audemars Piguet worth roughly 61,000 euros.
Rodriguez also received handbags from Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton with a combined value of about 8,000 euros. The reported gifts included a selection of exclusive dresses and blouses estimated to be worth a further 20,000 euros.
Their investments extend beyond vehicles and jewellery. Property is also understood to be a significant part of the couple’s portfolio.
Reports say Ronaldo and Rodriguez own two luxury villas on Nujuma, a private island overlooking the Red Sea. The island can only be reached by boat or seaplane.
The two properties are estimated to have cost about 8m euros in total. They provide room for the wider family while also offering the couple a secluded retreat and complete privacy during holidays.
Such purchases represent only a small part of Ronaldo’s wider wealth, which he has accumulated during a career both on and off the pitch.
Bloomberg estimates the Portugal international’s net worth at about $1.4bn, making him the first footballer in history to reach billionaire status.
As speculation continues over a possible wedding in Madeira, Ronaldo and Rodriguez appear set to add another high-profile event to a relationship associated not only with football fame and celebrity, but also with one of sport’s most opulent lifestyles.
