Como are considering a move for Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, according to Goal, which cites transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian club are assessing whether to pursue a deal for the Spain international as they continue to shape their squad. However, a decision on Sanchez is not expected until Como have addressed their main priority in the transfer market: signing a forward.
Como have already reached an agreement with Chelsea this summer for the transfer of defender Trevoh Chalobah. The deal is worth 34.5 million euros and represents an existing connection between the two clubs during the current transfer window.
Sanchez’s situation at Chelsea has changed following the arrival of Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa. The Spanish goalkeeper lost his place in the starting line-up after a series of mistakes in Chelsea’s 3-2 match against Fulham.
Martinez subsequently replaced him in the team, leaving Sanchez’s position at the London club uncertain and prompting interest from Como.
The Italian side are now considering whether the Chelsea goalkeeper could be their next addition, but the club’s immediate focus remains on strengthening their attack. Only once that objective has been resolved will Como decide whether to proceed with a move for Sanchez.
The goalkeeper’s possible departure would follow the arrival of Martinez, who has moved into the starting role after Sanchez’s errors against Fulham. For now, however, Como have not made the signing of a goalkeeper their principal transfer task.
Their agreement for Chalobah has already demonstrated their willingness to conduct business with Chelsea. The defender’s transfer, valued at 34.5 million euros, was settled earlier this summer, while the possibility of a separate deal for Sanchez remains under consideration.
According to the report from Goal, via Fabrizio Romano, Como are interested in the Chelsea goalkeeper but have yet to make a final decision. That decision will depend on their progress in securing a forward, which remains the club’s leading priority.
Sanchez’s future will therefore be shaped by two factors: the change in Chelsea’s goalkeeping options following Martinez’s arrival and Como’s ability to complete their preferred attacking signing. Until the latter issue is dealt with, the Italian club are not expected to determine whether to make a formal move for the goalkeeper.
