Como are set to complete the signing of Moise Kean from Fiorentina for a total fee of about €40m, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Italy forward has been given permission to travel to Como for a medical after Fiorentina approved his departure. If he passes the examination, the 2000-born striker will sign his contract and complete the final formalities of the move.
The transfer has been valued at €35m up front, with a further €5m available in bonuses. It represents a major financial commitment from Como and is expected to be one of the club’s most significant signings in recent years.
Kean’s move had been held up while Fiorentina worked to secure a replacement. That issue was resolved on 31 August, when Portuguese forward Beto arrived at Fiorentina for a medical examination organised by the club.
Beto’s arrival allowed the chain of related transfers to move forward and removed the final obstacle to Kean’s departure. Fiorentina had wanted to complete the replacement deal before authorising the forward to leave.
Negotiations over Kean’s transfer to Como had been under way for some time, but the Italian club’s decision to pause the move meant the agreement could not initially be completed. Following the progress of Beto’s switch to Fiorentina, Kean was finally cleared to continue his own move.
Como are now preparing to welcome a significant addition to their attack. The club and Fiorentina have reached an agreement in principle on the overall structure of the transfer, with the fixed fee and potential add-ons taking the deal to €40m.
The next stage is Kean’s medical examination in Como. A successful result will allow the player to sign his new contract and make the transfer official.
For Como, the signing would provide a major reinforcement in attack ahead of the new season. It would also underline the scale of the club’s investment in the forward, with the guaranteed €35m fee making the deal a substantial commitment even before the performance-related bonuses are considered.
The move has progressed only after the linked transfer involving Beto was substantially completed. With Fiorentina’s approval now granted, Kean can proceed with the medical and the remaining documentation required to join Como.
