Caleb Yirenkyi, the Ghanaian central midfielder currently at Nordsjaelland, is being linked with a move to Premier League side Chelsea as the London club step up their search for midfield reinforcements.
The 20-year-old, who is under contract with the Danish Superliga club until 30 June 2030, has seen his reputation rise sharply over the past year, with his market value now listed at €10 million. Chelsea are monitoring his situation closely as they assess options to add energy and depth to their midfield department ahead of the new season.
Yirenkyi has become a regular for Nordsjaelland’s first team since being promoted from their youth ranks in February 2025, making 29 Superliga appearances and contributing three goals and five assists. He has also featured prominently in the Superliga championship round, underlining his importance in high-stakes domestic fixtures.
On the international stage, the right-footed midfielder has attracted further attention with his performances at the 2026 World Cup, where he played in all four of Ghana’s matches, scoring once and starting the majority of those games. That exposure has helped place him firmly on the radar of major European clubs.
Born in Bechem and standing at 1.82m, Yirenkyi joined Nordsjaelland’s set-up from the Right to Dream academy in January 2024 before progressing rapidly through the system. Any negotiations with Chelsea are likely to be complex given the length of his current deal and his central role for the Danish side, who are under no immediate pressure to sell.
