Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi has started pre-season training with Coventry City after completing his move to the Premier League newcomers from FC Nordsjaelland.
The 20-year-old has joined up with his new team-mates and met head coach Frank Lampard as Coventry step up preparations for their first season back in England’s top flight in 25 years.
Yirenkyi was pictured taking part in training alongside Lampard and fellow Ghanaian Brandon Thomas-Asante, giving Coventry supporters an early glimpse of the midfielder following his arrival earlier this month.
The move represents another significant step in Yirenkyi’s rapid rise, which was accelerated by his involvement at the 2026 World Cup.
He became widely recognised in Ghana after scoring a dramatic stoppage-time winner against Panama during the tournament. His performances in North America subsequently attracted interest from several leading European clubs.
However, a conversation with former England midfielder Lampard helped persuade Yirenkyi that Coventry was the right destination for the next stage of his career.
