Brighton join race for Senegal midfielder Lamine Camara

Brighton have emerged as the latest Premier League club to show interest in Senegal midfielder Lamine Camara, with the 22-year-old’s performances at the FIFA World Cup continuing to attract attention during the summer transfer window.

According to reports in the English press, the Seagulls have joined the growing list of clubs monitoring the AS Monaco player, who has impressed while representing Senegal at the tournament.

Camara’s displays on the international stage have strengthened interest in the midfielder, with Brighton now reported to be keeping a close watch on his progress. Newcastle have already been linked with the player, and further Premier League clubs are also expected to enter the race for his signature.

The increasing interest follows an impressive campaign with Monaco, where Camara established himself as a regular starter after producing consistently strong performances in midfield.

The Senegal international has become an important figure for the Ligue 1 club, earning his place in the starting line-up through his energetic displays and technical ability. His performances at club level, combined with his contributions for Senegal at the World Cup, have helped elevate his profile ahead of what could become one of the most closely watched transfer stories of the summer.

Brighton’s reported interest comes as the club continues to monitor Camara’s progress during the World Cup, where he is representing his country. His performances at the tournament have done little to reduce speculation over his future, with Premier League clubs continuing to follow his development.

Newcastle remain among the clubs reported to be interested in signing the midfielder, while the possibility of additional English clubs joining the pursuit suggests competition for his services could intensify as the transfer window progresses.

Despite the growing interest, Monaco are not expected to part with the midfielder for a reduced fee. The Principality club are fully aware of Camara’s importance and are understood to have no intention of allowing him to leave at a bargain price.

The 22-year-old is currently valued at around £35 million, which is equivalent to just over €40 million. However, that valuation is not expected to discourage Premier League clubs from pursuing a deal.

Camara’s combination of strong domestic form and eye-catching World Cup performances has made him one of the players attracting significant attention during the transfer window.

With Brighton now reportedly joining Newcastle among the clubs tracking the Senegal international, and the prospect of further Premier League interest emerging, Monaco may face increasing pressure to keep hold of one of their key midfielders.

Even so, the French club’s reported valuation underlines their determination to protect the value of a player who has become an indispensable member of their squad.
