Bologna FC have signed Belgian forward Samuel Mbangula from Werder Bremen on loan until 30 June 2027, with an option to make the move permanent.
The 2004-born attacker becomes the seventh Belgian player in Bologna’s history. Primarily a winger, Mbangula is known for his pace, individual technique and ability to beat opponents in one-on-one situations.
Born in Brussels, Mbangula began his development in the Club Brugge youth system before moving to Anderlecht. He joined the Juventus academy in the summer of 2020, where he continued his football education and progressed through the club’s Under-17 and other youth sides.
During his time in the Juventus youth set-up, Mbangula made 57 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists. He also featured in seven UEFA Youth League matches.
Mbangula stepped into senior football with Juventus Next Gen during the 2023-24 campaign. He played 25 times that season as he gained experience at professional level, and his performances earned him promotion to Juventus’ first team.
He made his Juventus and Serie A debuts on 19 August 2024 against Como. Mbangula marked the occasion by scoring in the 23rd minute.
The winger went on to make 32 appearances for Juventus in all competitions during the 2024-25 season, registering four goals and five assists. He also played in the UEFA Champions League.
In the summer of 2025, Mbangula joined Werder Bremen and began his Bundesliga career. He made 26 league appearances in his first season with the German club, scoring three goals and setting up two more. His attacking threat was particularly evident when operating on the left side.
At international level, Mbangula has represented Belgium from Under-15 through to Under-21 level. He has played for the country’s U15, U16, U17, U18, U19, U20 and U21 teams.
His first call-up to the Belgium senior squad came in November 2024.
The move to Bologna represents the next stage of Mbangula’s professional career, providing the forward with an opportunity to continue his development in Italy after spells with Juventus and Werder Bremen.
