Guinea-Bissau-Portuguese striker Beto has joined Fiorentina from Everton in an €18m transfer, moving from the Premier League to Serie A on 1 September.
The 28-year-old centre-forward arrives in Florence after making two Premier League appearances for Everton at the start of the 2026-27 season. He started neither match, played 31 minutes in total and did not score or provide an assist.
Beto becomes Fiorentina’s latest attacking addition after two years with Everton, having moved to the English club from Udinese for €25m on 29 August 2023. His time in England began with a transfer fee above the €18m amount involved in his move to Italy.
The forward spent the previous season at Udinese after joining from Portuguese side Portimonense for €15m in July 2022. He had initially moved to the Italian club on loan in August 2021, before returning to Portimonense at the end of that temporary spell.
Standing at 1.94m, Beto offers Fiorentina a physically imposing option through the centre of the attack. The right-footed forward developed in Portugal after beginning his youth career at Benfica, later progressing through Tires, Oeiras, URD Tires and Clube Olimpico do Montijo before reaching Portimonense’s senior set-up.
He made his senior breakthrough with Portimonense after joining the club’s under-23 side from Montijo on a free transfer in July 2019. His route to the top level has therefore included football in both Portugal and Italy, followed by a spell in the Premier League.
Fiorentina will compete in Serie A during the 2026-27 campaign, while Beto leaves an Everton side in which he had made limited appearances at the beginning of the season. His transfer takes his career back to Italy, where he previously played for Udinese.
Beto’s market value was recorded at €18m at the time of the move, matching the fee paid by Fiorentina. The transfer was completed and registered on 1 September 2026.
