Bertrand Traore has turned down several offers from the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, as he continues to look for a new club in England.
The Burkina Faso captain is a free agent following his departure from Sunderland and has not yet committed his future to another side. According to exclusive information from Africa Top Sports, Traore has rejected the proposals because he wants to remain playing in England.
Several clubs from the Championship and Premier League are reportedly in discussions with the 30-year-old over a potential contract. The talks offer Traore the possibility of continuing his career in English football after his time with Sunderland, while clubs in the country’s top two divisions assess the experience he could bring to their squads.
Traore has built a career at the highest level of the game. He began his development in France before joining the highly regarded Chelsea academy, where he continued his football education at one of English football’s leading clubs.
The forward then gained important first-team experience during successful loan spells at Vitesse Arnhem and Ajax Amsterdam. Those periods helped him progress before he moved on to establish himself with Olympique Lyonnais and Aston Villa, where he played in European elite football.
His career has slowed slightly in recent seasons because of injuries, but Traore has remained competitive while playing in a range of demanding leagues. His experience includes spells in Turkey, Spain and the Netherlands, followed more recently by his return to English football.
That varied background is among the factors that could make him an attractive signing for his next club. Traore has operated in several different footballing environments and has experience of the pressures that come with competing at the highest level.
His leadership is another significant asset. As captain of the Etalons, the Burkina Faso national team, he brings international responsibility as well as a substantial club career. His time at Chelsea, Vitesse Arnhem, Ajax Amsterdam, Olympique Lyonnais, Aston Villa and Sunderland has given him experience across different tactical and competitive settings.
Despite the injury problems that have affected the latter stages of his career, Traore’s record at major clubs and in several European leagues means he remains a player with considerable top-level experience. His leadership, technical background and familiarity with demanding competitions could make him a high-value addition to his next team.
For now, no agreement has been reached. Traore continues to consider his options, with Championship and Premier League clubs involved in discussions, while offers from the Middle East and Saudi Arabia have been rejected as he prioritises staying in England.
