Bayern Munich have completed the signing of 18-year-old Senegal international Bara Sarr-Ndiaye on a professional contract running until 30 June 2031, after the midfielder impressed during a loan spell in the second half of last season.
Bara joined Bayern Munich from Gambia during the winter break and made four official appearances after arriving in Munich. His performances were enough to convince the Bundesliga club to make the move permanent.
The midfielder developed at the Gambinos Stars Africa football academy in Gambia. The academy has worked with Red&Gold Football, a joint venture between Bayern Munich and LAFC, since 2023.
Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund said Ndiaye had adapted quickly to life at the club and had already made a strong impression on his team-mates.
“Bara is an excellent young man who adapted to the new environment at Bayern Munich in a very short time and quickly earned high recognition from his teammates. We have been following him for a long time; he was the team captain, made rapid progress in the past 24 months, and continued this momentum in Munich. As a central midfielder, Bara’s physical qualities and dribbling speed are outstanding, he plays intelligently, and he is also exceptional off the field. He already speaks fluent German and has quickly integrated into our team.”
Jochen Sauer, Bayern’s director of youth development and general manager of Red&Gold Football, said the club had tracked Ndiaye’s progress through its partner academy for several years.
“Over the past few years, Bayern Munich has been closely monitoring Bara’s development through Red&Gold’s partner academy. He embodies our sustainable development philosophy: creating the best development environment for top international talents in their home countries, bringing new challenges through European trials at the right time, giving them a platform to showcase themselves, and thus helping them break into professional football. I am personally delighted that we have gained a player of exceptional character for the club, who will also be an excellent ambassador for Red&Gold.”
Ndiaye said completing the transfer represented a significant moment for him and his family, while also expressing his ambition to learn from Bayern Munich’s established players.
“Today is a very special day for me and my entire family. I hope to learn from these great players at Bayern Munich every day and work hard to help the team. My dream has come true, and I am very happy. I also want to set an example for other young players – like my teammates at Gambinos Stars – to show that you can absolutely make it to one of the greatest teams in the world.”
His displays for Bayern Munich last season also led to selection for Senegal’s World Cup squad. He made one appearance at the tournament, which was held in the USA, Canada and Mexico, as Senegal ultimately reached the round of thirty-two.
The move continues Bayern Munich’s pathway for developing young international players through Red&Gold Football and its network of partner academies. For Ndiaye, it secures a long-term place at one of European football’s leading clubs after only four senior appearances in Munich.
