Barcelona have finalised key details of a pre-season friendly in Morocco as part of their preparations for the 2026-27 campaign, with the match to be played in Tangier on 15 August.
The Catalan club are working to complete arrangements for the fixture, which will see them face a Moroccan side in the northern coastal city, according to Catalan newspaper Sport.
The opponents have not yet been publicly named, but the club have decided the game will be against a team from the Moroccan domestic league. The timing of the match comes before the start of the local championship, which is not due to begin until October.
Barcelona’s meeting in Tangier will be their penultimate warm-up game before the new season. Four days later, on 19 August, they will return to the Spotify Camp Nou to host Egyptian side Al Ahly in the annual Joan Gamper Trophy.
The fixture against Al Ahly will close out Barcelona’s pre-season schedule and provide a final opportunity for the squad to tune up at home in front of their own supporters before competitive action begins.
England camp and domestic friendlies
Barcelona are currently holding a training camp in England as they build fitness and integrate tactical work ahead of the 2026-27 season.
That stay will conclude with two friendlies against English clubs. Barcelona are set to face Birmingham City on 31 July, followed by a match against Preston North End on 3 August.
Both fixtures are intended to provide competitive tests against Championship opposition as the coaching staff assess player form and match sharpness.
Italian tournament before Morocco
After leaving England, Barcelona will travel to Italy on 8 August to take part in a three-team tournament in Udine.
During that competition, they will face Premier League club Nottingham Forest and Serie A side Udinese.
The mini-tournament in Udine will precede the trip to Morocco and the subsequent Joan Gamper meeting with Al Ahly, forming a sequence of fixtures designed to gradually increase the level of opposition.
By the time Barcelona take to the pitch in Tangier, they will already have completed friendlies in England and Italy, with the Moroccan encounter serving as the final away test before their traditional curtain-raiser at Spotify Camp Nou.
