Barcelona are nearing an agreement with Fenerbahce for the signing of goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic, according to Sport.es.
The proposed deal for the 31-year-old Croatia international is expected to cost Barcelona about €3m, excluding bonuses. Negotiations between the two clubs are continuing, but the report says the parties are close to reaching an agreement.
If the transfer is completed, Livakovic is expected to spend one season on loan at Dinamo Zagreb. He would then join Barcelona in the summer of 2027.
The arrangement would see Barcelona secure Livakovic’s future while allowing him to remain at Dinamo Zagreb for the 2026-27 season. The Croatian goalkeeper would arrive at the Catalan club after completing that loan spell, rather than moving directly into Barcelona’s squad once the transfer is finalised.
Barcelona view Livakovic as a potential long-term successor to Wojciech Szczesny. Szczesny’s contract with the club is due to expire next summer, meaning the club are looking ahead to the future of their goalkeeping department.
Joan Garcia is expected to remain Barcelona’s first-choice goalkeeper. Livakovic is therefore being considered as a future replacement for Szczesny, rather than an immediate change to Garcia’s position as the team’s main goalkeeper.
The negotiations with Fenerbahce centre on a transfer fee of approximately €3m, with any additional bonuses to be paid separately. The exact terms of those bonuses have not been reported, but the overall agreement is understood to be close.
Livakovic’s proposed route to Barcelona would involve two stages: first completing the move from Fenerbahce, then spending a season on loan at Dinamo Zagreb before linking up with the Catalan club in July 2027.
Barcelona’s interest reflects their planning for the position beyond Szczesny’s current contract. The club have identified the Croatian as the goalkeeper they could use to provide continuity in the future, while Garcia remains established as the side’s current number one.
No agreement has yet been formally announced by Barcelona or Fenerbahce, but Sport.es reports that discussions have advanced significantly. Should the deal be completed on the reported terms, Livakovic would eventually become part of Barcelona’s goalkeeping options after his season-long loan at Dinamo Zagreb.
