Atletico Madrid have submitted an opening proposal to Juventus for Canada striker Jonathan David as they seek to strengthen their attack during the final hours of the transfer window.
The Spanish club are understood to be discussing an initial loan move that would include an option to buy, with negotiations continuing over the precise details of the offer.
David has reportedly given the green light to a possible move to Atletico Madrid, but Juventus are not prepared to sanction his departure until they have secured a replacement.
The situation was reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who said Atletico had made their first formal approach for the 25-year-old forward. Contacts between the clubs and the player’s representatives remain ongoing, while Juventus are showing a willingness to discuss a potential transfer.

Atletico’s interest in David comes amid continuing uncertainty around Julian Alvarez, whose future has remained unresolved in recent weeks. The Argentina international remains an important part of Diego Simeone’s plans, but doubts over his situation have contributed to the club’s search for another attacking option.
Alexander Sørloth, meanwhile, is expected to remain with Atletico Madrid. The club still wants to add a new forward to complete its attacking alternatives, and David has increasingly emerged as one of the leading candidates.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the Juventus striker has become one of Atletico’s main targets after other possibilities moved out of consideration. One of those options was Nicolas Jackson.
