Arsenal have been left disappointed after Vinicius Junior decided to extend his contract with Real Madrid, according to TEAMtalk.
The London club had identified the Brazil international as a potential addition to their attack and were prepared to meet the financial demands made by his representatives. Arsenal also made a serious attempt to persuade the forward to continue his career in the Premier League.
However, those efforts have not resulted in a move to England, with Vinicius choosing to remain at Real Madrid by agreeing a new contract. The decision has forced Arsenal to reassess their plans for the left side of their attack as they continue to consider alternative options.
The Gunners are now expected to focus on other candidates, with Paris Saint-Germain players Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye among the leading possibilities under consideration.
Arsenal also retain an interest in Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, who remains another option for the position. The club have not abandoned the possibility of pursuing Julian Alvarez, the forward from Atletico de Madrid, either.
Vinicius had emerged as a significant target for Arsenal because the club were willing to satisfy the financial conditions required by his representatives. Their approach included an effort to convince him that a move to the Premier League should be the next step in his career.
That prospect has now disappeared following his decision to commit his future to Real Madrid. Arsenal’s recruitment plans must therefore move towards the alternatives already identified, with Barcola, Mbaye and Williams all listed among the players who could be considered for the left flank.
The possibility of signing Alvarez also remains open, meaning Arsenal’s options extend beyond a direct replacement for Vinicius. The club are continuing to assess different attacking targets rather than ending their search after the failed attempt to secure the Real Madrid forward.
TEAMtalk reports that Arsenal were ready to meet Vinicius’ financial requirements, but the player’s decision to renew with Real Madrid has brought an end to their hopes of taking him to the Premier League. The London side will now concentrate on its other candidates, while keeping the Atletico de Madrid forward in its plans.
