Keith Andrews says Brentford have no intention of easing off after making an impressive start to the season and building on last campaign’s strong ninth-place finish.
The Bees opened their Premier League campaign with a 3-0 victory over Tottenham before following it up with a 6-1 EFL Cup win against Birmingham City.
They travel to Leeds on Sunday, with Daniel Farke’s side also having won both of their opening fixtures, against Nottingham Forest.
Andrews took charge of Brentford for the first time last season after succeeding Thomas Frank and impressed as the club finished ninth in the Premier League.
Asked what Brentford are aiming for this season, Andrews said: “Last year was a season of stabilisation, of regrouping and trying to build a new team and new dynamics, trust.
“I think we got there and this season’s slightly different. We’ve got a really good foundation in place, we’ve added some really good players into the equation that give us that depth to be able to make changes and freshen things and look after players, but doesn’t change the outlook to keep pushing.
“We’re in a good place. The boys are feeling really confident, enjoying the football, enjoying being together, so we will hopefully keep that going.”
Brentford have also invested heavily this week by signing left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf from West Ham.
Leeds manager Farke believes Brentford currently represent one of the Premier League’s most difficult opponents.
“For me, one of the most complicated tasks you can have right now,” Farke said.
“Keith is doing a fantastic job there and then if you analyse not just their last season, but also what they have done in the last weeks, it’s more than impressive.
“We need to be at our very best in order to control this moment because in the last weeks no other team were able to find a solution, how to stop them from scoring goals and winning games.
“We are in a good, good mood, a good position right now and also in a good moment after two impressive wins. But they are the standout team so far and we have to be at our very best to make sure that we have a chance also to win the points.”
Players to watch
Harry Wilson has scored four Premier League goals against Brentford, with each of those goals coming in his last four appearances against the Bees.
That total is his joint-highest against any opponent in the competition, matching his four goals against Spurs.
For Brentford, Mamadou Sangare made an eye-catching start to his time at the club by providing an assist in the win over Tottenham.
Sangare averaged 14.2 defensive contributions per 90 minutes for Lens last season, the highest figure recorded by any player in Ligue 1. That number would also have topped the Premier League’s midfielders in 2025-26.
He is expected to produce another energetic performance at Elland Road.

Leeds have avoided defeat in their past eight home league matches against Brentford, winning three and drawing five. Their last loss came in February 2015, when Brentford won 1-0.
The most recent three meetings at Leeds have ended in draws, with the last two finishing 0-0.
There have been four draws in the six Premier League meetings between the clubs. Leeds and Brentford have each won once: Leeds prevailed 2-1 away in May 2022, while Brentford won 5-2 at home in September of that year.
Leeds last began a league season with consecutive victories in 2018-19, when they won their first three Championship matches under Marcelo Bielsa.
Brentford are seeking to win their opening two league games of a season for the first time since 2006-07, when they achieved the feat in League One. Their most recent such start in the top flight came in 1935-36.
Since the beginning of December 2025, only five Premier League teams have collected more points than Leeds’ total of 39. Over the same period, only three sides have taken more points at home than the Whites’ 24.
Opta’s win probability gives Leeds a 37.7% chance of victory, with Brentford on 35.5% and the draw on 26.8%.
