Okan Buruk has criticized Andre Onana following Galatasaray SK’s 2-1 defeat to Trabzonspor in the Süper Lig, accusing the goalkeeper of disrupting the flow of the game.
Speaking after the match, Buruk pointed to what he described as excessive time management by Onana, particularly in the closing stages of the contest.
“We created chances, but in the closing minutes, there was very little effective play,” Buruk said. “André Onana managed the clock well, as he often does. He broke the rhythm of the match, and the yellow card came late.”
The Galatasaray coach also questioned the amount of stoppage time added, suggesting the match ended before the full additional time had been played.
“There was very little stoppage time, and the match ended before the added time was played,” he added.
Trabzonspor secured a valuable 2-1 victory, but much of the post-match discussion has centred on Buruk’s comments rather than the result itself.
The remarks have divided opinion, with some viewing them as a natural reaction to defeat, while others see them as part of a broader criticism often directed at goalkeepers who use game management tactics in tight matches.
