Alvaro Morata move to Leganes edges closer after Como agreement

Leganes could announce the signing of Alvaro Morata within the next 24 to 48 hours after reaching an agreement with Como and the Spain forward, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

The Spanish club has reportedly settled the main terms of the proposed move with both the Italian side and the player. Only the final formalities remain, with Leganes aiming to complete those arrangements before confirming the transfer publicly.

Morata’s contract with Como currently runs until 30 June 2029. However, the 33-year-old is now expected to leave the club, with Leganes positioned to secure his arrival once the outstanding details have been resolved.

The information was reported by Romano, who says the agreement between all parties is already in place. The remaining work is understood to involve the final administrative steps rather than negotiations over the principal terms of the transfer.

According to Transfermarkt, Morata’s current market value is estimated at €6m. The figure provides an indication of the striker’s valuation as he approaches a potential move away from Como, despite having more than two years remaining on his existing contract.

Morata has made 30 appearances for Como, scoring one goal and providing two assists. Those figures represent his contribution during his time with the Italian club, where he has continued his career as an experienced international forward.

The proposed transfer would bring a player with major honours to Leganes. Morata is a European Championship winner and has won the Champions League twice. His record at the highest level of European football is therefore a significant part of the profile he would bring to the Spanish club.

Leganes have not yet formally announced the move. That confirmation is expected within the next two days if the final documentation is completed as planned.

For now, the prospective deal remains subject to those last formalities. The reported agreement with Como and Morata leaves the transfer close to completion, with the announcement likely to follow once the process has been concluded.

Morata’s Como contract is due to remain valid until the end of June 2029, and Transfermarkt values him at €6m. During his 30-match spell with the club, he has recorded one goal and two assists. Leganes are now seeking to turn the agreement reported by Romano into an official signing within the 24-48 hour timeframe.
