Spanish side UD Almería have reportedly rejected an opening offer from Aston Villa for Senegal international Dion Lopy, making it clear they will not sanction his departure for less than €20 million.
The Premier League outfit have identified the 23-year-old midfielder as a priority target ahead of the summer transfer window and have already tested Almeria’s resolve with an initial approach.
According to reports from Spain, Villa submitted a bid worth €17 million for the Senegalese midfielder, but the offer was immediately rejected by the Spanish club, who remain firm on their valuation.
While Almeria are not ruling out a potential transfer, club officials are reportedly unwilling to enter serious negotiations unless interested parties meet their €20 million asking price.
Lopy has emerged as one of the standout performers in Almeria’s squad, establishing himself as a key figure in midfield through his ball-winning ability, work rate and tactical discipline.
The former Stade de Reims player has also contributed in the final third this season, registering three goals and two assists in 26 Segunda División appearances.
