Al Qanah back in the big time after stunning league run

Early qualification confirms dominant campaign

Al Qanah FC have officially secured promotion to the Egyptian Premier League for the 2026–27 season after a commanding 2-0 victory over Masar FC in the 28th round of the Professional League.

The result confirms Al Qanah’s return to the top flight with six matches still to play, marking the earliest promotion in the competition’s history.

Goals Seal Decisive Victory

The crucial win was delivered through standout performances from Hazem Abu Senna and Moudi Shalata, both of whom scored braces to ensure qualification was mathematically secured.

Their contributions capped a dominant display that reflected the team’s consistency throughout the campaign.

Record-Breaking Achievement

Al Qanah’s early promotion surpasses the previous record set by Al Nasr SC, who secured their top-flight return during the 2017–18 season with five rounds remaining.

This new milestone highlights the scale of Al Qanah’s dominance, having built an unassailable lead at the summit of the table.

Commanding Lead at the Top

With the victory, Al Qanah extended their points tally to 65, placing them 20 points clear of fourth-placed Masar, who remain on 45 points. The gap ensures that their position among the top three – the qualification spots for promotion – can no longer be challenged.

Behind them, Assiut Petroleum SC occupy second place with 50 points, while Abu Qir Fertilizers FC sit third on 48 points.

Race Continues for Remaining Promotion Spots

Although Al Qanah have already secured their place, the battle for the remaining two promotion positions is set to intensify over the final six rounds.

Three teams will ultimately gain promotion to the Premier League, while four sides will be relegated from the top division to maintain a 20-team structure next season.

Milestone for Head Coach

The achievement also represents a personal milestone for Abdel Nasser Mohamed, who has guided a team to promotion from the Professional League to the Premier League for the first time in his career.

Return After Long Absence

Representing the city of Ismailia, Al Qanah’s promotion marks their return to the top division for the first time since the 2013–14 season.

The upcoming campaign will be the club’s 29th appearance in the Premier League, underlining its historical presence in Egyptian football.

Rich History Revisited

Al Qanah have enjoyed notable success in the past, with their best league finish coming in the 1955–56 season, when they secured third place. The club also lifted the Egypt Cup in 1964 and claimed the Egyptian Federation Cup in its only edition in 2000.

A Statement of Intent

Al Qanah’s emphatic promotion campaign sends a clear message ahead of their return to the Premier League.

With a record-breaking achievement, a commanding points lead, and a blend of history and ambition, the club now looks ahead to re-establishing itself among Egypt’s elite after more than a decade away.
