Al Gharafa end pursuit of Morocco striker Youssef En-Nesyri

Al Gharafa have ended their attempt to sign Youssef En-Nesyri after the financial demands surrounding a possible transfer proved too high.

The Qatar club had spent the past few days examining the possibility of bringing in the Morocco international and had made enquiries about the terms of a potential deal. However, talks failed to progress after the overall cost of the operation became clear.

Al Ittihad, who hold the rights to the 29-year-old striker, were seeking a substantial transfer fee. En-Nesyri’s salary demands would have added considerably to the expense, leaving Al Gharafa unwilling to take responsibility for the full financial package.

According to Hesport, the Qatari club has therefore decided to stop its negotiations rather than continue with a deal it considers too costly.

Despite that setback, En-Nesyri is not short of options as he considers the next stage of his career. The Morocco forward is understood to favour remaining in the Saudi Pro League, where he already has significant experience, according to an exclusive report by Africafoot.

He is also open to a return to Europe, with several clubs monitoring his situation. His reputation as a proven goalscorer means he remains an attractive proposition in the transfer market, although any interested club would need to assess the financial demands involved.

Transfermarkt currently values En-Nesyri at 17m euros. His future could therefore remain the subject of further developments in the coming weeks, particularly if a concrete offer arrives from a European club.

There is also interest from Egypt. According to exclusive information obtained by Africafoot, Pyramids FC have identified En-Nesyri as a possible addition to their attack during the summer transfer window.

Maghreb de Fes are also attracted by the profile of the Morocco international, known as the Atlas Lion, according to sources cited in the report.

En-Nesyri’s possible departure comes as Al Ittihad prepare for their opening Saudi Pro League fixture against Al Kholood. The club owns the player’s registration, but his future remains uncertain after Al Gharafa withdrew from the race.

For the Al Ittihad-Al Kholood match, betting company 1xbet lists Al Ittihad as the favourites at odds of 1.46. A draw is priced at 4.25, while an Al Kholood victory is offered at 5.00.
