Al Ahly have decided not to consider offers for goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir during the current summer transfer window, despite interest from several European clubs.
According to Africa Foot, the Egyptian club received an offer worth $2.5m from Danish side Nordsjælland in recent hours for the Egypt international. Al Ahly have also been approached by a Czech club as European interest in the goalkeeper continues to grow.
However, Al Ahly’s position is understood to be firm. The club’s management has ruled out the possibility of Shobeir leaving this summer, with the goalkeeper regarded as one of the team’s key players for the 2026-27 season.
Shobeir’s record underlines his importance to the squad. He has made 70 appearances for Al Ahly, totalling 6,058 minutes on the pitch. During those matches, he has conceded 44 goals and kept 38 clean sheets.
Africa Foot reports that Hussein Ammouta, Al Ahly’s Moroccan head coach, is placing considerable importance on Shobeir as part of his plans for the team.
Ammouta considers the 25-year-old an important member of his squad and intends to rely on him next season as Al Ahly pursue major honours and seek to add further trophies to their collection.
For that reason, the coaching staff are not currently planning for Shobeir’s departure, despite the increasing attention from clubs outside Egypt.
French club Troyes had already shown an interest in signing Shobeir several weeks ago, according to exclusive information published by Africa Foot. That interest added Troyes to a growing list of European clubs monitoring the Egyptian goalkeeper.
Reports have also linked Shobeir with a move to Italy, potentially through Como, as well as a transfer to Nordsjælland. Those claims do not match Al Ahly’s current stance, with the club unwilling to negotiate the departure of one of its principal players.
Al Ahly’s management has informed the players that transfer offers will not be considered at this stage. The club’s priority is to retain its core squad and avoid losing key members during the summer window.
That means Shobeir’s departure remains unlikely, despite the $2.5m proposal from Nordsjælland, the separate Czech offer and the interest from a number of European clubs.
The goalkeeper is therefore expected to remain at Al Ahly unless there is a significant change in the club’s position or new developments emerge during the transfer window. For now, Ammouta’s plans place Shobeir firmly at the centre of the team’s preparations for the coming season.
